Wow there are only 17 days to go until I meet up with my Bike and Build team in Jacksonville, FL. The past few months have been full of affordable housing education, habitat for humanity volunteer builds, training (~450 miles down on my new bike), and fundraising (by the way we've now raised the most money out of any past or present Bike and Builder, thanks for your help in raising so much for such a great cause). Now with only 17 days left until I leave I feel as though time has flown by and is flying by even faster. I've been busy getting together all of my gear as I get ready to pack, continuing to ride so my training doesn't go away, and dealing with all of the logistics associated with my trip. I can't wait to update you all from the road.
Just finishing up a week of family and training in Houston. It's been really nice to take advantage of the warm weather and flat lands down here. However, a few of my rides gave me more practice with things other than my typical riding. Houston's notorious potholes provided me with 4 flat tires in 24 hours and the flat open land showed me what the winds I will face in the dessert may look like. I appreciate each new experiences and the opportunity to practice my bike maintenance as it further prepares me for my trip to come, a little over a month to go now.
